Dear Esther,
I love your articles so much. I am a subscriber to the magazine and this is my favorite part of the magazine. I always look forward to reading your responses. I have a very serious question. Most of my friends are devout Christians. I proclaim to be a Christian, but I don't go to church often. I do love the Lord. They keep talking about how we are at the end of time. They keep saying that God is coming soon, any minute... I have heard people saying that for years and years. Do you really think He is coming very soon?
I think I want to start going to church again and make sure I am ready.
Signed: Are we in Revelation? Abby
Dear Abby,
Thank you for giving me the satisfaction to know that you love my articles. God Bless You. I am delighted with your decision to restart your communion with the Lord Jesus. God made us to be in constant communication with Him. Jesus is our true friend. He knows our weakness, but He loves us just the same. He gave His life for us. He is able and willing to save all who love Him and follow His steps. Yes! According to the Holy Bible, He is coming soon. Maybe the reason for His delay is because of His loving mercy; He is waiting to give so many people a second chance. But His return is imminent. "Be on guard! Be alert! you do not know what time he will come." Mark 13:33 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour." Matthew 25:13
One of the most dangerous enemies to our spiritual life is to think that we have plenty of time to get ready. We do not have eternity to prepare for our meeting with Jesus.
I agree with you that your question is really a very serious question, indeed. Always remember that freedom of choice was one of the many good gifts God granted to humans, even knowing it would risk implications; He chose to risk His plans, instead of creating us like robots. The moment we wake up in the morning, until we go to bed at night, our life depends on the choices we make. We need to pray to God to assist us in making the correct choices. "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying: This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:21 This is a serious choice between life or death.
The apostle John was at the Island of Patmos, exiled by the Roman Emperor, because of the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus. While John was in exile, Jesus Christ revealed to him to write the book of Revelations to encourage and give warnings of ultimate victory to those who are on God's side. I recommend you to read the book of Daniel and Revelations, they are two short books. Before you start reading, pray and the Holy Spirit will help you understand.
"Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." Revelations 1:3
My dear Abby, and readers, be sure to build your faith strong for the most significant event that will happen in the whole Universe.
Sincerely,
Esther
